Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria, its largest and most active town (900 000 inhabitants) and the country`s main economic and cultural centre. It is a thriving and developing city, which lives up to the motto “Grows, but those not grow old”. The position of the town is outstandingly beautiful. Sofia is bounded to the west by the mountain Ljulin, and to the north by the Balkan chain. The town enjoys a healthy and temperate climate, thanks to the mountains and the large areas of open space (parks and public gardens).

To the west of the market are the Mineral Baths of Sofia, which are a fine example for the healthy climate. For those who enjoy shopping there is also the Central Universal Store, also called CUM.
